Why we're called Tutela
Tutela is Latin for guardianship — the duty of care owed to someone who cannot yet protect themselves.
The name is the brief
We named the platform after the obligation rather than the machinery. A school bus system can be described as routes, stops and timetables, and all of that is in here — but none of it is the reason it exists. It exists because a family hands over a child every morning, and the whole arrangement rests on that being honoured.
Guardianship is a useful word for it because it is not a feature. It is a standing duty, it does not pause when the software is inconvenient, and it is owed whether or not anyone is watching.
Two things this platform exists to prevent
Everything else is detail. These two are the reasons the product is built the way it is, and we would rather be judged against them than against a feature list.
A child left on a bus
Every child who boards must be accounted for when the bus empties. The driver cannot close off a run while those numbers disagree, and cannot close one off without confirming the bus has been walked and checked. These are not warnings that can be clicked past for convenience. They are designed to stop the run, and they stay that way even when stopping the run is the annoying answer.
A child's information reaching the wrong person
The platform holds children's names, dates of birth, photographs, home addresses, medical notes and where they are right now. Each operator's data is separated from every other operator's as a matter of structure, access to a child's record is logged, and people are shown the minimum the job requires rather than everything the system knows. Nothing on our pages is loaded from anyone else's servers, so no outside party learns where a bus is or who is on it.

Where a trade-off is not a trade-off
Software design is mostly balancing competing goods, and we do that everywhere it is honest to. But when the choice is between someone's convenience and a child's safety or privacy, we do not treat it as a balance to be struck. That is the commitment the name is meant to carry, which is why it is on the front of the product rather than in a values page nobody reads.
